When you’re looking to shave your head, you don’t necessarily want to use your regular razor. If you’re trying to find the best electric shavers for head shaving, you need something that’s powerful, durable, safe. And – most importantly – good value for money. Shaving your head is very different from shaving your face, even if you use an electric razor. You still want to protect your scalp while getting the best shave you can. This article will help you find the best electric shaver for head shaving by exploring products that are affordable, highly rated, and well constructed.
1. Skull Shaver Bald Eagle Smart
The Bald Eagle Smart electric shaver for head shaving looks different from your typical electric razor, as it’s built specifically to give you a firm grip and to allow you to reach the back of your scalp without difficulty. It features five rotary cutters and a swiveling shaver head to offer a “fast and close shave.” This rechargeable razor advertises 90 minutes of battery life on a single charge, as well as the convenience of wet or dry shaving.
While it is designed specifically for head shaving, you can also use the Bald Eagle Skull Shaver as a facial shaver. The razor is made to be used without gel for an easy shave right off the bat with no mess, and the specially-shaped handle is designed to make it easier to use than a traditional shaver for head.
The razor costs $108.99 on Amazon, with replacement razors available for $31.95 for a two-pack.
2. Butterfly Pro 3h
Another product from Skull Shaver, this razor also has a uniquely-shaped handle. It allows for a safe grip while shaving around the back of the head. Unlike the previous Skull Shaver, it has only three rotating heads rather than five, and the grip itself is somewhat smaller.
With its swivel head and rotary razors, the Butterfly Pro 3h is significantly safer and easier for beginners than a typical electric razor. It also gets 90 minutes of battery power off a 2.5 hour charge.
The Butterfly Pro is available for $79.99 on Amazon ($59.99 for Prime members), making it a slightly cheaper alternative for people interested in an electric shaver for head similar to the Bald Eagle but willing to forego a little of the power. You can read more about this shaver in our Butterfly Shaver Pro review.
3. Wahl Professional 5-Star Balding Clipper
This particular razor is top-of-the-line, based solely on the fact that it was made for professional barbers. The electromagnetic motor delivers a speedy, “surgically close” cut that allows for especially intricate, high-end work at twice the speed of pivot motor clippers. The corded razor comes with attachable combs, razor guard, oil, cleaner, and an instruction guide.
The balding clipper is not recommended for use anywhere but on the scalp. As this is a professional-grade razor, it is not recommended for use by beginners. Please only purchase this razor if you are are a professional or have professional-level experience.
The razor costs $45.62 on Amazon for the full set of razor and accessories.
4. Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper
The Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper is a more user-friendly alternative to the professional clipper. It is better suited for beginners and at-home use. It comes with easy-to-follow full-color instructions for those new to using clippers and shavers at home. The handle is contoured and the blades themselves are self-sharpening, marketed as “perfect for touch-ups.”
Unlike other shavers for head in this list, the Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper is meant to be charged and used in short bursts. A 15-minute quick charge provides 12 minutes of use, while a full charge provides approximately 40 minutes of battery life. It is not recommended for wet shaves, but can be used on either the face or the scalp.
The clipper is available for $40.49 on Amazon ($40.49 for Prime).

5. KIKI NEW GAIN Professional Hair Clipper
The KIKI NEW GAIN clipper is a 3-in-1 unit with a variety of attachments. These attachment allow you to use it for a variety of purposes: head shaver, hair trimmer, and traditional shaver. It comes with four guide combs in varying lengths to make trimming easier, whether you want to go fully bald or just slightly shorter. While the razor is powerful, rounded tips on the guide combs make it safe enough for beginners or to repurpose for children’s haircuts.
This cordless shaver for head has approximately 90 minutes of battery life on a full charge. It takes approximately eight hours to fully charge it. Unfortuantely, you can use it only for dry shaving.
The clipper plus all its attachments can be purchased from Amazon for $48.90 ($26.50 for Prime subscribers). The KIKI NEW GAIN Hair Clipper is currently unavailable, but will return with an update as soon as it’s in stock.
6. Riwa X9 Classic Professional Barber Clipper
This cordless home haircut kit has multiple heads for different levels of close shaving. This professional clipper is something you are likely to see in a barbershop. However, you can safely use it at home as well. The low noise makes it safe and ideal to use around children, as does its “close-touch technology,” ensuring fewer nicks and cuts.
On a full charge, the Riwa X9’s lithium battery gets about four hours of battery life, and is clear for use with low heat. Unfortunately, it is not designed for wet shaving or facial shaving.
The full kit costs $34.99 on Amazon. Right now, it is no longer in stock, but we’ll return with an update as soon as it is available.
While there are good, versatile head shavers on the market, the best ones are either expensive or only for professional use. This is why we consider the Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper the best shaver for head out of the ones we reviewed. It is relatively affordable and has the functionality of a professional barber head shaver. However, it is still user-friendly, thus easy to use at home.
When trying to pick the best electric shaver for head shaving and scalp balding, your best bet is to decide up front how you want to use it. If you’re only looking for a head shaver, pick something with a handle designed for a firm, safe grip while going around to the back of your scalp. If you’re looking for simple device for head shaving, look for something you’d see in a barbershop. By that we mean something of barbershop quality that you can easily use at home as well.
Have you tried any of these razors? Or do you have one that you would recommend over these? We’d love to hear about your experiences!
